Maybe better titled, “A Boy, His iPad3, Cintiq Stylus, and a Penchant for Smooshing Sounds Together”….lol…
Oh man, I was on a roll. I’d started playing around with sounds and music…maybe I should say “music”…lol…with Mixman Studio way back in the day. It made it very accessible and I had fun. I played with a few other programs before finding Garageband and FL Studio and I was off to the races!
This was a series of short tracks I’d produced paired with visuals produced from the ability to record the screen while drawing in some of the programs on my iPad.
This series is what I came up with.
Remember going to, for me Disney World, and they have the caricaturists drawing people, but they projected it so everyone could watch? At least that’s a memory I have and I remember being entranced watching the process and how things took shape.
That was one inspiration for these.
I like creating a series. It let’s you run with an idea, as I think you can tell with these. Explore it and see where it takes you. It also makes an idea feel more cohesive.
I was playing in the different art programs, playing with sounds, finding ways to produce, public domain resources, or stock, and trying to mold them together into…something…
I forget which stock site I used or where I found the public domain lyrics. I’d give them credit. The audio clips were taken from archive.org, they have a huge repository of audio and video, it’s really cool what you can find there.
AE5 was taking public domain footage and filtering it through Photoshop with the audio being composed in Garageband on my iPad. The serendipity when the motion marries the audio.
I tried to create a cohesive branding, but at the same time keep it unique to the video.
AE6 smooshed together a series of green screen footage with FL Studio loops.
If you made it this far, thank you for your time, I appreciate you checking it out.
