I did a thing!
Hey, everybody, this is Todd from toddYoungONLINE. I am excited today. I did a thing!
I’ve been on a productive streak lately, and I wanted to share this with everybody. the short of it is, my physical, low content prop books are available on Amazon.com. Go check them out!
The long story is, I had a, bunch of ideas and kind of finally came together. I normally use notebooks to keep notes and agendas at work. and then when they’re full, I set them aside as legacy documentation of the idea or project.
Subsequently, I’ve also reached an age where I’m thinking more about the legacy of what I want to leave behind. That converged with my exploration of Ancestry.com and 23&Me and me looking into my family. I know I have been remiss about getting to know my relatives. relatives. I don’t know much about my mom. I don’t know much about my dad. I don’t know much about my grandparents. I’ve missed those opportunities, but I have been sitting down with, a journal and documenting my life for my daughter, or whomever might be interested, and thought, what better way to kind of consolidate a bunch of my ideas and have something permanent to pass along?
Judgement Day was originally a project I’d come up with years ago to challenge myself in my downtime when I was working overseas. I was, being snarky while traveling and I wrote down titles for, what I thought, would be like these great book covers. I kept thinking about what would catch your eye on a bookshelf and created them digitally.
The whole Judgment Day Project can be found here.
The broader idea to be able to create blank books that had fun covers and that you could go in and then fill out, and at the end of it, you would have something that looked nice or look kind of cool to sit on your shelf to make it look like you were well read.
I’ve been guilty of collecting books with the best of intentions, but they just sit on my self and only get flipped through occasionally. The idea was to have an eclectic collection that, when people came over, would be impressed by your collection. The sly part of the idea is, since they are blank, when someone asks you what they are about you can just make up anything. Heh.
One issue with that idea is, Amazon doesn’t let you publish blank books, just low content. The idea evolved into them being for lists and daily agendas, but pushed a but further with adding a prompt or quote to inspire thoughts and activity.
That’s what they are now. Each book is 200 pages with 100 prompts. A place for the date, a ruled page and a blank page to take notes or work on the prompts.
Six Volumes. v1: Random Prompts, v2: Themed Prompts, v3: Drawing Prompts, v4: Absurdist Prompts, v5: Writing Prompts, v6: Memoir Prompts.
I wanted to have a snapshot of who someone is over a specific time period, so these don’t need do be done consecutively but act as a grown up Book About Me. Something that can be passed along.
Something that gives you a record of that day. But it also has a prompt like right now, this one is what are you most grateful for in your life right now? You work through this and with that legacy idea in mind at the end of filling this out and working through it, you can put it on your shelf and then pass it along to your kids or somebody else who might be interested in your life.
I wanted to do something that challenged you to think and step outside your comfort zone to really be able to tell your story.
With all 6 volumes you’ll have a total of 600 prompts over 1200 pages and that is just a small snapshot of yourself.
Judgment day has a total of 36 covers, so I’m going to create 6 series of 6 covers. Each series will contain unique prompts to keep you coming back for more challenges. Or, like I said, these were created to also be daily agenda books as well. So, follow the prompts, or use these as you will, every page will be a unique documentation of yourself.
I’m just really excited about this. The realization of this idea and with the accessibility to be able to produce and offer it. I am like over the moon that this is done and it’s a there something physical to be able to hold. Digital is great, but it’s a whole different feeling. I’m still speechless that I get to hold these now and get to work through them myself.
So I hope you enjoy these and they add value.
I really appreciate the support I’ve gotten for my work and ideas and stuff I post. I enjoy the comments and encouragement. I really hope, you’ll check these out and maybe give them a try.
I hope they do for you what I’m hoping.
That’s all for now.
