Project: JUL14: Zanzo – The Persistence of Vision…

Zanzo – the Persistence of Vision

I’ve always been fascinated with animation and motion. I love storytelling, entertaining, and making things move.

Zanzo, in Japanese, means the persistence of vision. An afterimage or imprint which describes nicely the effect thousands of still images moving by our eyes at incredible speeds to give create the illusion of life.

This was a simple experiment in just making something move. I had my iPad3, a Cintiq Creative Stylus, and the Animation Desk app. Music was produced using FL Studio and finally the project was edited together in Adobe Premiere Pro.

I loved the kinetic line, it reminded me of the old hand-drawn Disney films. Robin Hood, Winnie the Pooh, Jungle Book where you could still see the pencil lines popping up from time to time was a treat for me and gave an extra element to the animation for me.

Zanzo was an effort to explore, to start with a simple idea, and build on it.

Overall, it’s imperfect, but hopefully entertaining.
