A project I’d done as a final for a design class. Technically this is sort of cut two as I had to re-render this for YouTube which has produced some interesting results.
This was meant to be projected much larger than screen size.I wanted to do it on the side of a building, but had to project it onto a wall maybe 20′ wide. This is MUCH smaller so the details aren’t coming through as much as I want, but something interesting happened (at least I think so) in this second rendering. There’s a lot more movement because of the codec I think, so it’s kind of a happy accident.
This was an attempt to do something sort of like in Fantasia 2 to Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin. One of my favorite songs, there are 3 sections to it each about 5 mins in length.
Produced in 2010 using Corel Painter 11 using the feature where you can record your strokes then save it out as an .avi file, Daz Carrara 8 Pro for the 3D, and edited in Adobe Premiere CS5.
Overall I was happy with the initial finished project. This is an interesting render of it as well i think. I had to do a lot of compromising with what i really wanted, so not quite perfect, but it’s got a lot of potential as an effort.
The visuals are abstract, no real story. It’s an attempt to focus with your ears, but give your eyes something to visualize and connect with in your own way.
