ToddYoungONLINE Presents:
Welcome to the first story from Young Tales — Tales for the Young and the Young at Heart.
In “The Frog King, or Iron Henry,” from the Brothers Grimm, a beautiful young princess loses her favorite golden ball in a deep well. When a mysterious frog offers to retrieve it, he asks for something unusual in return: to become her companion, sit beside her, eat from her plate, and sleep near her bed.
The princess eagerly makes the promise—but once her golden ball is safely back in her hands, she runs home and leaves the frog behind.
Unfortunately for the princess, the frog has no intention of letting her forget her promise.
When he appears at the castle door, her father, the King, insists that a promise must be kept. What follows is one of the most famous fairy tales ever collected by the Brothers Grimm—a story of promises, transformation, friendship, and an enchanted prince, along with the remarkable loyalty of his faithful servant, Iron Henry.
Join narrator Todd Young as Young Tales begins its journey through the timeless fairy tales, folklore, myths, legends, and classic stories that have captured imaginations for generations.
So settle in, get comfortable, and let the story begin…
Keep imagining, keep exploring, and keep the stories alive.

In this episode of Young Tales, Todd Young shares an original short story, “Dinner for Five,” a darkly humorous tale about four children, one very important Lord Mayor, and a simple set of instructions that perhaps should have been worded a little more carefully.
Hurried through the halls of a magnificent house, four hungry children are told that the Lord Mayor will soon be home and there is much to be done before supper. They are delivered to a bustling kitchen filled with bubbling pots, freshly baked breads, cakes, pies, and wonderful aromas—and given into the care of the household chef.
Later that evening, the Lord Mayor settles down to an elaborate meal after a long day of tedious meetings and policy matters. With fine wine in his glass and his favorite mincemeat pie before him, everything seems perfectly ordinary.
Until he asks one innocent question:
“The children?”
What follows is a delightfully macabre reminder that when giving instructions, it is always wise to choose your words carefully.
Written and narrated by Todd Young, Dinner for Five is a short tale filled with dark humor, wordplay, misunderstanding, and a wonderfully wicked twist.
